Service | Storage Sizing
Using storage for a decentralized wind farm is a techno-economic optimization problem: the electricity stock must be maintained between its minimum and maximum levels, and storage-discharge operations must obey a price-cost arbitrage.
The sale of electricity produced by a wind farm on the spot market adds an additional problem: with variable spot prices, storage-discharge operations must be evaluated in real-time. Therefore, ex-ante sizing and ex-post evaluation of storage are made more complex.
In practice, at Winddeep, we leverage the potential brought by the instant knowledge of production, the 48-hour forecast of production based on weather conditions, and evaluations of spot electricity prices, all integrated into our tool. Service Features We offer our clients calculations based on real-time algorithms. We can thus estimate the price elasticity of production and identify moments when it would be wiser to store, evaluate the opportunity cost relative to annual production.
Key Features
We offer our clients calculations based on real-time algorithms. This allows us to estimate the price elasticity of production and determine the optimal times for storage, as well as to evaluate the opportunity costs related to annual production. Based on this, we assess storage needs, simulate the storage-discharge strategy for our clients in real-time, provide advice on battery sizing, and evaluate the impact of storage usage on the overall profitability of the wind farm.
